The position provides hands-on experience managing cases, client interactions, and courtroom appearances under the guidance of the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney.

Location:

• Fresno, California

Duties:

• Advise clients on their legal rights and prepare legal documents related to their cases

• Attend pretrial hearings and provide clients with strategic guidance after each proceeding

• Handle court appearances, trial preparation, and motion practice

• Conduct legal research and interview witnesses

• Analyze likely case outcomes based on legal precedents

• Manage an active caseload and maintain accurate case records

• Gather evidence to support client cases and refute prosecution claims

• Prepare clients for depositions and build effective case strategies

• Work collaboratively with other attorneys and legal staff

Requirements:

• Demonstrated interest in criminal defense through internships, clinics, or volunteer experience

• Willingness to take initiative in case preparation and advocacy

• Commitment to professional growth and client service

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active California State Bar license

• Law school graduates awaiting bar admission will also be considered

Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Effective legal research and writing ability

• Attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities

• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required

• Familiarity with legal case management software is a plus
