A law firm seeks a Family Law Attorney to join the domestic litigation team in Columbia, MO. The ideal candidate will have two to four years of experience in complex family law matters or demonstrable civil litigation experience. This role involves handling diverse family law cases, requiring strong litigation skills and effective communication.

Duties

• Serve as second chair in high-net-worth family law cases, providing litigation support and strategic input.
• Handle a wide range of family law matters, including divorce, custody disputes, and domestic abuse cases.
• Engage in regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including motion hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously, adapting to shifting legal strategies.
• Conduct thorough legal research and draft persuasive legal documents.
• Perform billable work efficiently, with a strong grasp of billing practices.

Requirements

• A minimum of one year of experience in civil litigation is required.
• Prior experience practicing family law is preferred.
• Strong courtroom and litigation skills are essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to handle large caseloads and juggle multiple priorities is a must.
• Prior negotiation and dispute resolution advocacy experience is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively with a team of attorneys and legal staff is essential.
• Ability to handle sensitive matters with empathy and discretion is required.

Education

• A law degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Member in good standing with the Missouri Bar or a jurisdiction with reciprocity with Missouri.
