Job Title: Litigation Attorney
Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Alexandria, VA, is seeking a seasoned litigator to champion the rights of employees navigating workplace disputes and injustices. This opportunity is tailored for an attorney who is passionate about employment law, experienced in litigation, and eager to make a tangible impact in the lives of clients. The role involves representing individuals in discrimination, retaliation, and harassment cases, primarily in federal forums. Duties:
Represent clients in administrative forums, including MSPB and EEO proceedings
Handle litigation before the EEOC and in U.S. District Courts
Conduct depositions and manage cases through the discovery and summary judgment stages
Provide legal analysis and advocacy under statutes such as Title VII, FMLA, ADA, ERISA, and FLSA
Draft persuasive demand letters to promote early resolution
Guide clients through complex workplace issues with clear counsel and empathy
Collaborate closely with other attorneys and support staff on case strategies
Utilize the firm’s operational tools for task management and strategic alignment
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience
Prior exposure to federal employment litigation or government employee matters preferred
Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload independently
Skilled in drafting legal documents and conducting oral advocacy
Ability to multitask and remain composed under deadline pressure
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license in Virginia (preferred)
Admission to Maryland and/or DC Bars is considered a plus
Candidates eligible for admission by waiver will be reviewed
Skills:
Strong client counseling and interpersonal skills
Exceptional legal writing and oral communication abilities
Strategic thinking and a proactive problem-solving approach
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Familiarity with electronic case management systems and litigation tools
