Job Overview

A law firm seeks an attorney to join its Lansing, MI office. The ideal candidate will have experience in transactional, regulatory, and/or government affairs matters, and will contribute to the firm's growth in the mid-Michigan market by serving clients with complex compliance and business needs.

Duties

• Advise clients on business and regulatory matters, including corporate governance and commercial transactions.
• Provide guidance on compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Conduct regulatory analysis and advise on risk management and administrative proceedings.
• Advocate for clients' interests with lawmakers and regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver integrated solutions.
• Support business development efforts in regulatory-driven industries.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in transactional and/or regulatory practice areas.
• Experience in political arena or legislative advocacy.
• Strong research, drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with Michigan regulatory and administrative agencies is a plus.
• Excellent communication abilities.
• Interest in contributing to the firm's strategic expansion in Lansing.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed or willing to become licensed to practice law in Michigan.

Skills

• Ability to explain complex regulatory concepts in business-oriented terms.
• Established client base or portable book of business.
