Recruiting for a successful Law Firm, a litigation boutique based in Oakland, California, representing plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil litigation. We combine that high stakes litigation experience with the practical business judgment gained by managing litigation and investigations as senior inhouse counsel at multi-billion dollar public corporations. Our unusual breadth of perspective allows us to find creative, aggressive, and yet pragmatic strategies that serve our clients'​ larger goals. And when that strategy is to take a case to trial, we have the skill, tenacity, and credibility to obtain the best possible outcome.

We offer a hybrid work schedule, located in a gorgeous office in downtown Oakland. We have a collaborative, engaging team and seeking an experience Sr level litigation paraletal from Big Law. 

Ideal Experience & Skill Set

• Court Filing:
  • Experience filing in both state and federal courts
  • Familiarity with how documents are processed, ideally from court clerk or judicial experience
• Case Lifecycle Involvement:
  • Participate in the full life cycle of a case, including:
    • Client intake
    • Drafting/responding to complaints
    • Demurrers
    • Discovery
    • Motion to compel
    • Motion to dismiss
    • Deposition preparation
    • Trial prep
• Key Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of key documents
  • Keep attorneys informed of deadlines
  • Be a resource for case strategy and document flow
  • Perform site checking for legal briefs (fact-checking and legal citations)
• Discovery & E-Discovery:
  • Strong e-discovery skills are essential:
    • Collecting and organizing documents
    • Coordinating with vendors to load data into platforms (e.g., Relativity)
    • Reviewing documents with attention to metadata
    • Ability to identify critical vs. non-critical documents
• Additional Expectations:
  • Contribute to legal strategy, not just task execution
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize and manage deadlines independently
  • Accurately track billable time in accordance with firm policies

Preferred Backgrounds:

• Candidates with experience in:
  • General litigation
  • Malpractice law
  • Employment law
  • Plaintiff-side work
• Court clerk or judicial support experience is highly valued

Compensation is $90k-$150k plus benefits
