Duties:

  • Conduct patent prosecution activities, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Provide legal advice and strategic counsel on intellectual property matters, particularly in the areas of chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials science.
  • Collaborate with inventors and stakeholders to identify patentable inventions and formulate patent strategies.
  • Conduct patentability searches and assessments.
  • Handle responses to office actions and other patent-related correspondence.

Requirements:

  • Eligible to be admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or other relevant physical sciences field; or pertinent industry experience.
  • 2 years of patent attorney or agent experience.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Commitment to patent prosecution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Admission to practice before the USPTO.
  • Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or other relevant physical sciences field.
  • 6 years of patent attorney or agent experience.

Education and Certifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related field.
  • Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:

  • Proficient in patent prosecution procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and research abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
