Senior Housing Attorney
The candidate should have Housing Court litigation and trials, benefits advocacy, Supreme Court and appellate practice experience with proven creative approaches to affordable housing retention, community stabilization and repair and maintenance issues. Duties: Provide legal representation and advocacy to clients with housing issues. Assist agency in developing a Bronx housing practice. Assist in the development of grant proposals and other funding opportunities. Compile and analyze programmatic statistical information for program reports. Participate in community based initiatives on housing issues. Provide housing court litigation inclusive of Housing and Supreme Court trials, administrative hearings, appeals and any other matters related to the preservation of affordable housing. Provide clients with benefits advocacy.Provide creative approaches to affordable housing retention. Work with Community Organizing Department if housing issues arise that fits within their scope of work. Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisor. Should have J.D. Law Degree/LL.B. with admission to the New York State Bar. Should have 5-8 years relative housing and court experience (Bronx Housing Court experience strongly preferred). Non-profit housing work experience required. Fluency in Spanish required. Should have proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
