The role focuses on assisting innovative clients in securing and protecting intellectual property rights, particularly in complex technologies such as filtration systems, polymers, and medical devices.
Duties:
Draft and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications related to chemical and mechanical technologies
Conduct patentability assessments and assist with portfolio strategy
Analyze technical documents and prior art for patent searching and opinion work
Collaborate with clients and internal teams to tailor prosecution strategies
Manage case dockets and stay current on relevant USPTO regulations and procedures
Support business development initiatives by preparing IP analyses and presentations
Requirements:
1-3 years of hands-on experience in patent preparation and prosecution
Exposure to subject matter such as filtration technology, material sciences, polymers, and related mechanical innovations
U.S. Bar admission (active and in good standing)
Registered to practice before the USPTO or eligible to sit for the registration exam
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-based environment
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Undergraduate or advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline
Certifications:
USPTO Registration Number preferred or pending
Skills:
Exceptional legal research and analytical thinking
Proficient in written and verbal communication tailored to technical audiences
Demonstrated initiative and drive to serve a dynamic client base
Proficiency in managing patent prosecution workflows using industry-standard tools
Job Location:
Denver, CO (Hybrid schedule: approximately 2-3 days in-office per week)
