Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to join its litigation group in Washington, D.C., and Maryland. This full-time, remote position requires a self-starting individual with exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills. The successful candidate will work with a dynamic team of attorneys and staff in a professional yet relaxed environment.

Duties

• Conduct file review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
• Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
• Meet an annual billable requirement of 1950 hours.
• Represent clients in court, arbitrations, and depositions.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests.
• Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.
• Prepare for and attend trials.
• Travel as required.

Requirements

• 3+ years of general liability experience, with an emphasis on transportation/auto.
• Experience handling civil cases from start to finish.
• Proficiency in taking and defending depositions, including 30(b)(6) and experts.
• Experience drafting and arguing substantive motions, attending hearings, and trials.
• Participation in negotiations and mediations.
• Admitted to practice in Washington, D.C., and Maryland; other states a plus.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong research abilities and communication skills.
• Ability to self-manage and work in a team environment.
• Prompt response to email and phone inquiries.
• Excellent client skills and telephone manner.

Education

• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice in Washington, D.C., and Maryland.
