Job Overview: A law firm in West Fargo, ND, seeks a highly motivated and hard-working Associate Attorney to join its Litigation practice group. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior attorneys in all aspects of litigation, including research, case preparation, and court appearances.
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents such as motions, briefs, pleadings, and discovery materials.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategy and legal arguments.
  • Participate in client meetings, providing updates and discussing case strategies.
  • Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to ensure efficient case management.
  • Represent clients in court, mediation, and arbitration hearings.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and provide high-quality legal counsel.
  • Stay updated on developments in law and precedent to ensure compliance and provide accurate legal advice.
  • Manage a diverse caseload with varying degrees of complexity.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and draft settlement agreements.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admittance to the State Bar of North Dakota.
  • Experience in litigation preferred.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state court procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A high degree of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and needs.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of North Dakota.
  • Additional certifications in specialized areas of law (preferred).

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research and writing skills.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Proficient in using legal research tools and case management software.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop effective strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and court personnel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
