Legal Counsel - Legal Services
The candidate will maintains a current knowledge of legal developments and what effect the law will have on company’s entities, medical staff members, employees, patients and contractors. Conducts complex legal research. Displays excellent oral communication skills and high degree of analytical ability. Drafts, edits and finalizes letters, contracts, leases, corporate instruments, opinions, bylaws, policies/procedures and other legal documents. Identifies, evaluates, and gauges complex and competing legal risks and external regulatory influences, and evaluates potentials for litigation and/or regulatory penalty. Provides orientation, in-service training and continuing education to management, medical staff members, employees, and other company’s stake holders. Provides appropriate and timely legal advice to all levels of management, medical staff leaders and committees, as well as to employees throughout company to inform them of legality of contemplated actions and to advise them to take appropriate action consistent with legal and ethical parameters to achieve the mission and vision of company. Completes job duties and serves customers efficiently and resourcefully to result in customer satisfaction and cost effectiveness. Exercises appropriate judgment regarding when to seek assistance from more senior attorney on a particular issue. Maintains confidentiality of information of highly sensitive nature concerning healthcare, business and employment matters. Accepts new challenges and flexibility to explore new responsibilities as needed by the organization. Demonstrates dependability and reliability in completing work assignments and exhibits good work habits with respect to attendance. Demonstrates and/or makes suggestions toward the positive financial performance of the department. Remains calm and supportive under stressful situations. Assists Deputy General Counsel in evaluating department employees. May supervise non-professional staff and/or legal intern employees or volunteers. Attends and participates in functions sponsored by company to communicate to the community and to enhance the organization's standing among healthcare providers and the general public. Serves on committees and boards, as requested.
