Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in Poughkeepsie, NY, is seeking a motivated legal professional with demonstrated experience in land use, municipal permitting, and real estate development. Duties:

• Advise clients on zoning, site plan approvals, and municipal permitting processes

• Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents related to land development

• Interpret and apply state and federal environmental regulations (e.g., SEQRA, wetlands, stormwater management, endangered species)

• Coordinate with governmental entities and regulatory agencies

• Collaborate with environmental consultants and engineers on project planning

• Support real estate transactions as needed, including due diligence and title review

• Represent clients before municipal boards and planning commissions

• Participate in internal meetings with attorneys across disciplines for project strategy

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in land use, zoning, or real estate development law

• Strong familiarity with New York State's environmental regulatory frameworks

• Ability to manage multiple complex assignments in a fast-paced setting

• Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills

• Licensed to practice law in the State of New York

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York State Bar (mandatory)

Skills:

• Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting zoning codes and environmental regulations

• Strong public speaking and advocacy abilities for appearances before municipal boards

• Detail-oriented with an ability to assess legal and technical documentation

• Collaborative mindset with the capability to work across interdisciplinary teams

• Familiarity with real estate transactional processes is considered a plus
