Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a highly skilled Trust and Estate Attorney to join its growing Trust and Estate practice group. This position offers the opportunity to work with an established team, providing comprehensive legal counsel in estate planning, trust administration, probate law, and tax planning. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience and a strong background in these areas, with the potential for career growth in a collaborative, dynamic environment.

Duties:
Draft estate planning documents, including wills, trust agreements, powers of attorney, advance medical directives, deeds, etc.
Supervise the preparation of probate filings such as petitions for probate, inventories, accounts, inheritance tax returns, and petitions for assorted relief.
Administer trusts and estates, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and decedent wishes.
Oversee trust administration duties, including preparation of accountings, Crummey Notices, and estate tax returns.
Correspond with clients, financial institutions, insurance companies, and government agencies regarding estate matters.
Advise clients on estate planning strategies, including wealth transfer, charitable giving, and tax planning.
Draft and review legal documents related to estate planning and administration.
Collaborate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to develop comprehensive estate plans.
Stay updated on changes in estate and tax laws to provide current advice to clients.
Requirements:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic performance.
Active member of the Maryland Bar in good standing. Membership in Virginia and/or D.C. Bar is a plus.
5-7 years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, and probate law.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
Strong analytical, writing, and research skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Flexibility to learn new systems, processes, and software applications.
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
Certifications:
Active member of the Maryland Bar (in good standing).
Membership in the Virginia and/or D.C. Bar is a plus.
Advanced degree (LL.M.) or professional certification in estate planning is preferred.
Skills:
Expertise in estate planning, trust administration, and probate law.
Knowledge of tax planning and implications related to estates and trusts.
Strong drafting, research, and writing skills.
