Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level associate to join its Labor & Employment Department in Norfolk, Virginia. The candidate will work with a dynamic team handling a wide range of employment-related matters for diverse clients, including Fortune 500 companies and emerging businesses.

Duties

• Assist in defending wage and hour class actions and collective actions, including discovery and witness interviews.
• Defend single-plaintiff employment cases in state and federal court and arbitration, managing discovery and drafting motions.
• Support mass arbitration practice by managing large volumes of individual claims and coordinating defense strategies.
• Represent clients in administrative hearings and respond to EEOC and state agency charges.
• Collaborate with partners on case strategy and take ownership of matters for professional growth.

Requirements

• 4-6 years of relevant labor and employment litigation experience at a leading law firm.
• Experience defending single-plaintiff employment cases, including depositions and dispositive motions.
• Experience with wage and hour class actions and collective actions, including discovery and class certification issues.
• Mass arbitration experience preferred but not required.
• Experience in administrative hearings and advising on compliance issues preferred.
• Strong academic background with excellent research, analysis, and writing skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
• Willingness to work with innovative technology platforms.
• Admission to the Virginia Bar or eligibility for prompt admission.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the Virginia Bar.
