A well-established defense litigation law firm is seeking a Construction & General Liability Litigation Associate Attorney to join its office located in East Meadow, Long Island, New York. This role is ideal for a motivated attorney with at least four years of experience handling general liability, insurance defense, and construction-related matters. The position offers a hybrid work environment and the opportunity to work in a boutique-style office with the backing and resources of a national firm.

Location

Duties

• Independently manage a caseload involving general liability, construction litigation, transportation liability, and insurance defense

• Handle court appearances, mediations, and depositions

• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and legal memoranda

• Collaborate with partners and team members on case strategy and litigation planning

• Provide consistent client communication and status updates

• Engage in NYS Labor Law litigation, including sections 200, 240, and 241 matters (preferred)

• Participate in OSHA hearings and other administrative proceedings (if applicable)

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of litigation experience

• Experience with insurance defense, general liability, and premises liability cases

• Experience handling construction-related cases, particularly under NY Labor Law, is strongly preferred

• Ability to manage litigation files independently from inception through resolution

• Familiarity with OSHA hearings, and background with Corporation Counsel or a District Attorney’s office is a plus

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the State of New York

Skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical capabilities

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

• Strong courtroom presence and confidence handling depositions

• Familiarity with legal project management practices (preferred)

• Detail-oriented and highly organized
