Responsibilities: Explore and understand facts, applicable law and circumstances, and advise executives and other personnel on a variety of legal issues relevant to the business and industry of Company and its affiliates. Perform pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights. Facilitate claim management and resolution; Attend and advocate or assist at hearings, trials, mediation, and/or arbitration; Draft pleadings and discovery. Negotiate and draft public and private construction contracts, joint venture agreements, subcontract agreements, purchase orders, leases, assignments, credit applications, lien waivers and releases, settlement agreements, and other similar agreements, including advising on status, legal risks, interpretation, and recommendations on business terms in those agreements. Research unique legal issues impacting the organization by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, and codes. Develop risk management processes and procedures, and oversee compliance and training. Prepare and maintain corporate records and documents. Review bid documents and make strategic recommendations. Prepare, pursue and defend mechanic’s lien and bond claims; Monitor and track all insurance procurement and claims, including direct communications and negotiations with insurance brokers, adjusters and coverage counsel. Provide legal support for human resources; provides legal advice when needed. Adhere to and facilitate statutory and regulatory compliance. Monitor business licensing and registration. Donate time on behalf of company for charitable purposes. Support business development through relationships. Retain technical construction experts and consultants. Subject matter may involve any state or federal jurisdiction. Other duties as assigned.
