Job Overview:
An immigration law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Riverside office. The firm has 15 years of experience in providing quality legal services to immigrant communities worldwide. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to advocating for immigrants' rights and possess strong organizational and client relationship management skills. This position requires representing foreign nationals in immigration hearings, conducting client consultations, and providing strategic legal counsel. Location:

  • Riverside, CA

Duties:

  • Meet with clients in the office, court, and detention facilities to discuss immigration options and application strategies.
  • Assist Guatemalan nationals at the Consulate of Guatemala in San Bernardino or at Consulate events.
  • Collect retainers from clients and execute contracts specifying the parameters of the working relationship.
  • Conduct legal research by reviewing statements, declarations, and evidence, and analyzing laws and regulations.
  • Plan and present legal arguments in immigration court and during interviews on behalf of clients.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, including frequent communication and explanation of complex legal proceedings.
  • Attend immigration court hearings, file visa applications at USCIS offices, and other locations.
  • Prioritize casework and delegate tasks to supporting staff.
  • Track important deadlines for case filings and immigration services.
  • Plan, draft, and execute legal arguments related to immigration cases.
  • Review and sign immigration applications for both affirmative and defensive immigration strategies.

Requirements:

  • J.D. or equivalent law degree.
  • Active membership with the state bar.
  • Licensed attorney in good standing.
  • Valid state driver’s license and passport.
  • Ability to travel regularly between Riverside office and Los Angeles Immigration Court.
  • Spanish-speaking ability is ideal, but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or equivalent law degree.

Certifications:

  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Current admission to the state bar.
  • Valid passport.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of immigration law and legal procedures.
  • Excellent client communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to handle complex legal issues and navigate sensitive client matters.
  • Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience with legal research and case management software is a plus.
