Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Motion Writing Attorney in Los Angeles, California. This role offers an opportunity to gain experience in criminal and immigration law, specifically in post-conviction relief, within an established firm. The attorney will report to the Supervising Attorney and collaborate with a team of attorneys and legal assistants.

Duties

• Advise clients on legal rights and draft legal documents related to their cases.
• Handle post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, and early termination of probation.
• Attend motion hearings and advise clients on strategies post-hearing.
• Manage open criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing.
• Conduct court appearances, draft motions, interview clients, and perform legal research.
• Analyze probable case outcomes using legal precedents.
• Provide legal analysis to determine possible case benefits for clients.

Requirements

• Experience in criminal defense or immigration law.
• Experience handling criminal cases at the state and local level.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in California.
