The position involves overseeing civil litigation defense matters from inception to resolution, often in collaboration with associate attorneys. The ideal candidate will have over five years of legal experience, demonstrated leadership in civil litigation, and strong research, writing, and interpersonal skills.

Duties

• Conduct senior-level evaluation of claim documentation and develop defense strategies.
• Lead defense strategy conferences with clients and insurance claims examiners.
• Coordinate with clients and co-counsel during discovery phases and manage cases through trial.
• Organize and maintain case files, coordinating with support staff.
• Review and analyze discovery requests and prepare responses.
• Supervise document reviews with legal team, clients, and vendors.
• Prepare witnesses for deposition and trial.
• Prepare court filings and maintain accurate time records for client fees.

Requirements

• JD degree and California bar license in good standing.
• Five or more years of litigation experience.
• Leadership, management, or case supervision experience.
• Strong communication and writing skills.
• Experience in taking and defending depositions.
• Experience in reporting to insurance carriers preferred.
• Experience in preparing and arguing legal motions preferred.
• Familiarity with written and oral discovery required.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• California bar license in good standing.
