Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a Junior Associate to support its National Security and International Trade regulatory practice in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will possess 2–3 years of relevant experience in regulatory compliance, including export/import controls, sanctions, and foreign investment issues. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys on high-impact legal matters and gain increasing responsibility and client exposure.
Location:

Duties:
Provide counsel on U.S. export and import control regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR)
Advise on compliance with U.S. sanctions laws and programs administered by OFAC
Assist clients with foreign ownership, control, or influence (FOCI) mitigation measures
Support filings and due diligence processes related to CFIUS reviews
Collaborate with senior attorneys on strategic international trade matters
Draft and review regulatory compliance documents and client advisories
Monitor regulatory changes and interpret impact for clients
Contribute to internal legal research and client development initiatives
Requirements:
2–3 years of experience in national security or international trade law
Demonstrated familiarity with relevant regulatory regimes, including sanctions and export controls
Strong analytical and writing skills
Ability to manage projects independently and meet tight deadlines
Proactive, detail-oriented, and client-focused work ethic
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
Certifications:
Admission to the bar in the District of Columbia (or eligibility to waive in promptly)
Skills:
Excellent legal research and writing capabilities
Effective interpersonal and client communication skills
Ability to handle sensitive and complex regulatory matters
Strong interest in evolving international trade and national security issues
Team-oriented mindset with the capacity to take initiative
