A law firm seeks an attorney with experience in defending workers' compensation or general liability cases to join their Indianapolis, IN office.

Duties

• Gather and review medical evidence and records.
• Take depositions of claimants, physicians, and other parties.
• Conduct discovery and perform legal research.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Litigate workers' compensation cases before an administrative law judge.
• Represent employer or insurer interests at various legal proceedings.
• Assist in accident investigations and problem area analysis.
• Manage workers' compensation costs to reduce liability.
• Compile and submit management reports.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of the insurance company or employer.

Requirements

• J.D. and admission to the Indiana bar; additional Midwest state bar admission is a plus.
• Experience in workers' compensation defense or litigation.
• Knowledge of legal principles and practices.
• Understanding of local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook; Perfect Law software preferred.
• Maintain firm and client confidentiality.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.)

• Admission to the Indiana State Bar
