Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-sufficient Medical Board Defense Attorney with 5 or more years of experience to join our esteemed team at our Glendale office. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of independently handling cases from inception to resolution, including case assessment, strategy development, and courtroom advocacy. This role requires someone who can manage their own caseload efficiently, providing strategic defense and advocacy for healthcare professionals involved in disciplinary actions by the California Medical Board and other licensing agencies. The position offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work with in-office collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Represent healthcare professionals in investigations, hearings, and disciplinary proceedings initiated by the California Medical Board.
- Review medical records, complaint files, and evidence to develop effective defense strategies.
- Draft legal pleadings, responses, and motions pertinent to each case.
- Engage in negotiations and settlement discussions with Medical Board representatives.
- Prepare clients for hearings and testimony.
- Maintain thorough case documentation and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Stay current on changes in California healthcare law, Medical Board regulations, and licensing statutes.
- Collaborate with our team to develop best practices and case strategies.
- Independently handle cases from start to finish, including case assessment, legal strategy, client communication, and courtroom advocacy, with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
- Active California State Bar license.
- 5 or more years of experience defending healthcare professionals, specifically against Medical Board actions.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage cases from inception through resolution.
- Strong knowledge of California Medical Board regulations and healthcare licensing law.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Proven capacity to manage a busy caseload effectively.
- Exceptional communication and client management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing remote work with in-office collaboration at Glendale.
