The candidate will develop, implement and communicate strategies to protect the company's intellectual property assets (patents, trademarks and copyrights). Provide IP and other support for a wide variety of business transactions, including collaboration and licensing agreements, master services agreements, clinical trial agreements, MTAs, consulting agreements, vendor agreements and confidentiality agreements. Prepare and prosecute worldwide patent and trademark applications and conduct patentability, freedom to operate assessments and trademark clearances. Identify and communicate IP risks to scientific, legal and business teams. Actively counsel members of research and development teams to identify new inventions as well as devise and implement strategies for patent protection. Participate in the medical, legal and regulatory (MLR) review process. Develop a thorough understanding of company' current and planned business activities, products, competitors, and markets, and keep abreast of developing IP and other legal trends, laws and regulations. Identify training needs within the company and assist in the development and presentation of training materials on relevant IP laws and related business issues. Other matters and duties as may be assigned. Must have Bachelor's degree in a life science discipline. Advanced degree preferred. Juris Doctorate degree required. Must have registration as a patent attorney with USPTO and member of a state bar. Should have 4-6 years of relevant experience in patent prosecution with global portfolios. Must have strong core patent and trademark prosecution skills and ability to independently manage IP dockets and portfolios.
