A law firm in Lake Success, NY, is seeking a Nursing Home Collections Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of litigation experience in state courts. The candidate should have a strong background in plaintiff-side cases, demonstrating the ability to handle all aspects of litigation independently. This role requires a Juris Doctor degree, New York State Bar admission, and proficiency in legal research, motion practice, and court appearances.

Duties:

• Litigate plaintiff-side cases from inception to conclusion, involving drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, motion practice, depositions, and regular court appearances.
• Possess a detailed understanding of the CPLR and Supreme Court rules.
• Demonstrate strong oral communication skills for interactions with clients, court staff, adversaries, and witnesses.
• Work independently, prioritizing tasks effectively while maintaining a high standard of work.
• Utilize organizational skills to manage caseload efficiently.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in New York State.
• 3-5 years of litigation experience in state courts with a focus on plaintiff-side cases.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Outlook.

Skills:

• Litigation skills: Drafting pleadings, legal research, motion practice, and deposition experience.
• Strong understanding of the CPLR and Supreme Court rules.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Proficient in MS Word and Outlook.

Certifications:

• Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Additional Skills (A Plus):

• Experience with ProLaw and/or Centerbase.
• Knowledge of collection, guardianship, Medicaid, and/or estate law.
• Familiarity with the FDCPA.
