Job Title: Litigation Special Counsel

Job Overview:
A respected law firm with offices in Tampa, Florida, is seeking a litigation attorney with 2-7 years of experience for a non-partnership track role within its construction litigation practice. This full-time position requires an attorney confident in managing a large caseload independently, with an emphasis on arbitration matters and construction-related disputes. Ideal for candidates looking to deepen their experience in construction law while working in a focused and collaborative legal environment.

Duties:

• Handle a high volume of construction-related litigation matters independently

• Represent clients in mediation and arbitration proceedings

• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, pleadings, and motions

• Argue motions in court and participate in depositions

• Contribute to trial preparation and occasionally participate in trials

• Oversee discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests

• Assist in negotiating and finalizing case settlements

• Manage paralegals and support team members on assigned cases

• Collaborate with attorneys in the Tampa office to support case strategy and execution

Requirements:

• 2 to 7 years of experience in litigation, preferably involving construction and insurance-related claims

• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a structured office setting

• Experience in arbitration and mediation strongly preferred

• Proven ability to settle cases effectively

• Prior supervisory experience over legal support staff is an advantage

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active and good standing membership with the Florida Bar

Skills:

• Excellent legal research and writing proficiency

• Strong oral advocacy and motion practice experience

• Effective time management and case organization skills

• Familiarity with construction and design defect claims is a plus

• Professionalism, reliability, and a proactive approach to litigation work
