Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with experience in representing secured creditors in consumer Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy cases in New York, NY. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure. Candidates located within a commutable distance are encouraged to apply. A license to practice law in New York is required.

Duties

• Manage routine bankruptcy matters.
• Draft and review pleadings and claims.
• Attend scheduled hearings.
• Respond to firm-wide bankruptcy inquiries.
• Review client filings.
• Monitor electronic filings (ECFs).
• Resolve routine bankruptcy matters.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and the Court.

Requirements

• Knowledge of bankruptcy rules and creditor rights laws.
• Computer literacy and keyboard skills.
• Professionalism and attention to detail.
• Time management and communication skills.

Education

• Law degree - JD.

Certifications

• Barred in New York.
• Admitted to District and/or Bankruptcy Courts in NY.
