A law firm seeks a resourceful Attorney with three or more years of experience to join its Vancouver, WA, office through our recruiting services. This position involves managing a mixed caseload of litigation, real estate, and transactional matters. The role offers exposure to drafting court documents, overseeing discovery, negotiating contracts, and guiding matters from inception to resolution in a dynamic, client-focused environment.
Duties
Draft and file pleadings, motions, and other court submissions in civil matters
Conduct motion practice, including researching legal issues, preparing briefs, and presenting arguments
Manage discovery processes: prepare and respond to interrogatories, requests for production, and admissions
Prepare for and take depositions; defend depositions of clients and witnesses
Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, purchase agreements, and related transactional documents
Oversee own caseload from initial client intake through settlement or trial, ensuring timely progress and client communication
Collaborate with colleagues on strategy, share research findings, and coordinate with outside experts as needed
Maintain organized matter files, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with procedural rules
Requirements
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Licensed to practice law in Washington State (required); Oregon licensure (or eligibility) is a plus
Minimum of three years of experience handling civil litigation, real estate closings, or transactional work
Strong legal research and writing skills, with demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues and draft persuasive documents
Proven ability to work independently on assigned matters, as well as to collaborate effectively within a small firm team
Comfort working in a fast-paced setting with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills for client interaction, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy
Education
J.D. from an ABA-accredited institution
Evidence of solid academic performance (e.g., law review membership, moot court, honors) preferred
Certifications
Admission to the Washington State Bar (required)
Admission to the Oregon State Bar (preferred but not mandatory)
Skills
Advanced legal research using Westlaw, Lexis, or equivalent databases
Effective written communication for drafting court papers, contracts, and client correspondence
Strong oral advocacy skills for attending hearings, mediations, and depositions
Detail-oriented approach to reviewing documents and managing evidentiary materials
