Job Overview:
A highly regarded law firm is seeking an experienced Lateral Partner (or small team) to lead and establish a new office in Washington state. This exciting opportunity is ideal for an attorney with a strong background in defense litigation and a partial book of business, seeking to bring their practice to a collaborative firm offering resources, support, and significant growth potential. The position offers the chance to lead a new office while managing a diverse caseload of defense litigation matters.

Location:

• Tacoma, WA

Duties:

• Lead the establishment and operational setup of a new office, ensuring alignment with firm goals and culture.
• Manage a diverse caseload of defense litigation matters, including liability defense, coverage disputes, bad faith claims, and other related issues across various industries.
• Utilize an existing partial book of business to further develop and expand the firm's client base.
• Oversee all aspects of litigation, including pre-suit negotiations, discovery, trial, and post-trial motions.
• Manage expert preparation and trial strategy.
• Provide mentorship and leadership to junior attorneys and staff, fostering collaboration and ensuring high standards of legal services.
• Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, adjusting service models to meet evolving client needs.
• Participate in client meetings and presentations.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in defense litigation.
• A partial portable book of business, with the ability to bring new clients to the firm.
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead and mentor a team of attorneys and staff.
• Strong negotiation abilities and experience in settlement discussions, mediations, and trial advocacy.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the state bar in Washington.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the Washington State Bar.

Skills:

• Strong negotiation, settlement, mediation, and trial advocacy skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage complex litigation matters from pre-suit to post-trial.
