Location:

• Oakland, California

Duties:

• Represent small business clients in a variety of legal disputes, including partnership issues, employment matters, and lease conflicts

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, leases, and other business agreements

• Appear in court for hearings, motions, and other proceedings

• Advise clients on employment law, independent contractor matters, and business structuring

• Analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions

• Maintain clear and supportive communication with clients, many of whom are unfamiliar with legal processes

• Manage caseload with autonomy while collaborating with the broader legal team

Requirements:

• Proven experience handling both transactional and litigation matters

• Ability to shift effectively between courtroom work and contract negotiations

• Strong communication skills, particularly with clients unfamiliar with legal procedures

• Motivated self-starter with a collaborative mindset

• Comfortable working remotely with occasional in-office visits

• Flexible availability ranging from 20–40 hours per week

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active and in good standing with the California State Bar

Skills:

• Excellent analytical and legal writing skills

• Strong judgment and ability to cut to the core of legal issues

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

• Comfortable juggling a mix of transactional and litigation work

• Capable of handling sensitive matters with professionalism and strategic insight
