A national law firm is seeking a Senior Cyber Incident Response Attorney to join its cybersecurity and data privacy practice. This role is ideal for an experienced attorney with a strong background in data breach response and privacy compliance. The position involves advising high-profile clients on breach response strategies, regulatory compliance, incident management, and litigation defense. This is a fully remote opportunity with national client exposure and leadership responsibilities.

Lead and manage incident response efforts following cybersecurity and data privacy breaches
Serve as primary point of contact for clients and insurance carriers during active data breach situations
Analyze and interpret state, federal, and international privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR, GLBA)
Draft legal notices to affected individuals and government regulators regarding breaches
Coordinate with clients' executive and technical teams on breach response strategy
Respond to investigations and inquiries from state and federal regulators
Draft privacy and security policies in compliance with applicable privacy laws
Manage outside vendors for forensics, e-Discovery, and notification projects
Advise clients on all phases of cybersecurity incidents, from triage to regulatory resolution
Prepare comprehensive legal and incident response reports to clients and insurers
Supervise junior attorneys and legal support staff on incident response and compliance tasks
Support litigation defense of privacy-related lawsuits when needed
Minimum 7 years of legal experience, with at least 7 years focused on data privacy and cybersecurity law
Prior leadership or first-chair experience in breach response cases
Deep knowledge of U.S. and international data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR, FERPA, GLBA)
Experience interacting with regulatory agencies and managing compliance responses
Familiarity with litigation involving privacy-related claims is a plus
Background in information technology or technical environments is advantageous
Experience preparing legal budgets and client reporting in complex matters
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Good standing with the relevant state bar
Excellent legal writing and oral communication skills
Strong negotiation and analytical skills
Ability to manage high-pressure, time-sensitive breach response situations
Proficient in legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw
Technologically adept with strong organizational and project management capabilities
Team-oriented, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and support junior staff
