Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Rochester, NY, is actively seeking a mid-level litigation attorney with strong experience in insurance coverage and commercial disputes. This opportunity involves working on multifaceted matters related to professional liability, D&O, and general liability policies. The role requires hands-on litigation exposure and offers the chance to engage in intellectually demanding work alongside a recognized insurance litigation team.

Duties:

• Handle insurance coverage matters across various policy types, including D&O, general liability, and professional liability

• Draft pleadings, motions (including dispositive motions), and discovery-related submissions

• Participate in all stages of discovery, including written discovery and motion practice

• Conduct and defend depositions

• Make court appearances, aligned with the experience level

• Support or lead in case management depending on seniority

• Contribute to strategy development and risk assessment in complex claims

• Assist in business development and relationship-building efforts with clients

• Collaborate with team members across offices to ensure consistency in litigation strategy

Requirements:

• 4 to 7 years of hands-on experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation

• Demonstrated proficiency in complex litigation and courtroom practice

• Ability to manage litigation independently or with light supervision

• Familiarity with client communication and handling sensitive coverage matters

• Proven experience in high-value or high-stakes litigation preferred

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active Bar membership in good standing (New York preferred or eligibility to waive in)

Skills:

• Exceptional legal research and persuasive writing capabilities

• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset

• Confidence in oral advocacy and client interaction
