Immigration Attorney
Job Overview:
A law firm based in Houston, TX, is actively seeking an Associate Immigration Attorney to join a dynamic team focused on removal defense, family-based petitions, and humanitarian relief. This role offers the chance to manage a diverse caseload, engage directly with clients, and collaborate with experienced attorneys and support staff in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Duties:
Provide legal counsel and strategic planning for immigration matters
Represent both detained and non-detained clients before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
Prepare and file applications related to removal defense, family-based petitions, and humanitarian relief
Conduct legal intakes at detention facilities and advocate for clients in custody
Draft and submit legal briefs and client affidavits
Review and refine application packets for submission to government agencies
Prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and court appearances
Coordinate with community organizations, prosecutors, and law enforcement on legal matters
Conduct client consultations and develop tailored case strategies
Monitor and manage assigned caseload efficiently
Requirements:
Minimum of 1-4 years of hands-on immigration law experience
Proven ability to independently manage cases and advocate for clients
Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with legal team members
High-level written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated experience with EOIR, family-based, humanitarian, and naturalization filings
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is strongly preferred
Familiarity with legal case management systems is advantageous
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Admission to the Bar in any U.S. state (Texas license preferred)
Certifications:
Active Bar membership in good standing (any U.S. jurisdiction)
