Civil Litigation Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm in Fairfax is seeking a Civil Litigation Associate Attorney with strong academic credentials and excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills. Judicial clerkship experience is a plus, and candidates with judicial clerkships will be considered even without private practice experience. Some trial-level experience is preferred.

Duties:

• Conduct legal research and analysis on various civil litigation matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, and trials.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
• Assist in case management and strategy development.
• Handle discovery processes, including document review and production.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Virginia State Bar.
• Strong academic credentials.

Experience:

• Judicial clerkship experience is a plus.
• Trial-level experience preferred.

Skills:

• Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with case management software and legal research databases.
