Job Title: Pre-Litigation Employment Attorney

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm based in Los Angeles is seeking a dedicated Employment Attorney to join its employee rights practice group. This position focuses on managing pre-litigation matters related to workplace claims, including wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, and discrimination. The role involves extensive client engagement, strategic case development, and active negotiation with opposing parties. Ideal for a candidate with a strong background in California labor law and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a dynamic office environment.

Duties:

• Handle a broad caseload of pre-litigation employment law matters from client intake through resolution

• Evaluate legal claims, potential employer liability, and damages using case facts and documentation

• Collaborate across legal support departments, including intake, demand preparation, and lien resolution

• Draft demand letters and analyze employment documents such as pay stubs, timesheets, and personnel files

• Engage in direct negotiations with employers and opposing counsel to pursue favorable settlements

• Maintain consistent and professional communication with clients to provide updates and legal guidance

• Contribute to the case strategy aimed at strengthening clients’ legal positions during pre-litigation

• Guide legal assistants and case managers as needed

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with employment law claims, including pre-litigation responsibilities

• Demonstrated ability to manage a fast-paced caseload while maintaining case quality

• Strong working knowledge of California labor and employment statutes, including claims related to:

  • Wage & hour violations

  • Wrongful termination

  • Retaliation

  • Workplace discrimination

• Experience leading or mentoring legal support staff (preferred)

• Capable of working independently while collaborating with a team

• Willingness to commute to a downtown Los Angeles office daily

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in California

• Member in good standing with the California State Bar

Skills:
