Job Overview:
A law firm is recruiting for a Tax Associate to join its Chicago office, specializing in transactional tax matters. The successful candidate will have a minimum of four years of experience in handling M&A and joint venture transactions, cross-border transactions, securitizations, restructurings, as well as representations for emerging companies, private equity, and hedge funds. Expertise in corporate and partnership tax issues is essential. Candidates must be admitted or eligible to seek admission to the Illinois bar.

Duties:

• Advise clients on M&A, joint venture, and cross-border tax matters.
• Handle complex corporate and partnership tax issues.
• Work on securitizations, restructurings, and private equity transactions.
• Represent emerging companies, private equity, and hedge funds in tax-related matters.
• Assist with the preparation of tax-related documentation and filings.
• Collaborate with clients and legal teams to structure tax-efficient transactions.
• Provide strategic tax advice to clients, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Conduct research on tax issues and stay updated on changes in tax law.
• Draft and review legal agreements, documents, and contracts related to tax matters.
• Manage multiple tax-related projects and deadlines effectively.
• Maintain strong client relationships through consistent and clear communication.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4 years of transactional tax experience.
• Experience with corporate and partnership tax issues.
• Familiarity with M&A, joint ventures, cross-border transactions, securitizations, and restructurings.
• Experience working with private equity and hedge fund clients.
• Admitted to the Illinois bar or eligible to seek admission.
• Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, particularly in the corporate and partnership areas.
• Ability to analyze complex tax issues and provide strategic solutions.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Client-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois or eligible to seek admission.

Skills:

• Expertise in transactional tax law, including M&A and joint ventures.

• Ability to draft and review complex legal documents.
