Research and Information Services Librarian

The candidate will conduct research using online resources comprising legal, business, and practice-related databases. Provide research services support with the selection and use of appropriate research materials. Issue access to resources at specialty libraries such as state legislative libraries, local law school libraries, and the Library of Congress. Prepare instructional materials and conduct training on the use of resources. Arrange training with a variety of legal information services vendors. Create and maintain litigation alerts and evaluate and distribute results to attorneys. Provide research and other inputs to business intelligence and client development teams. Work with the General Counsel’s office to provide client quality checks on new clients and conduct searches on prospective new attorneys. Maintain awareness of current legal and business research materials, techniques, strategies, and resources; build research skills in new areas of the law and new technologies. Perform other administrative duties as assigned. The prior law firm or legal industry experience is preferred. Must have a bachelor’s degree in library science or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. A master’s degree is not required but is considered a plus. Should have Knowledge of and affinity for internet research and database technology; strong working knowledge of legal research tools including Westlaw and LexisNexis. Familiarity with and enthusiasm for exploring emerging research platforms is a must. The creativity of thought when seeking solutions and collaborating with attorneys, staff, and other team members; ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through to completion; effectively multi-task and prioritize projects while meeting all appropriate deadlines; strong written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism. Some flexibility to travel as necessary.
