Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a Trademark Associate with 3 to 7 years of relevant experience to join its Intellectual Property group. The successful candidate will support domestic and international trademark portfolios and provide strategic legal counsel across trademark, copyright, and brand protection matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an IP attorney looking to take on sophisticated work in a collaborative legal environment.

Location:

• Albany, NY

Duties:

• Conduct trademark searches and provide risk assessments for proposed marks

• Manage prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement of domestic and international trademark portfolios

• Advise on complex legal and business issues involving trademarks and copyrights

• Prepare and file applications and responses with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

• Handle trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings

• Provide counsel on copyright issues and brand enforcement strategies

• Assist with litigation related to trademark and copyright infringement

• Collaborate with legal teams across practice areas to develop client-focused IP strategies

Requirements:

• 3 to 7 years of experience handling trademark and copyright matters

• Proven ability to manage multiple client matters efficiently

• Experience with U.S. and international IP filings and prosecution procedures

• Familiarity with USPTO rules and procedures

• Strong understanding of intellectual property litigation principles

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (admission in NY or NJ preferred, based on office location)

Skills:

• Excellent legal research, drafting, and analytical skills

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities

• Strategic thinking and practical problem-solving skills

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational capabilities

• Ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and clients across diverse industries
