Senior Systems Engineer
The candidate analyzes, setups, configures, and supports datacenter and local server environments. Develops and maintains systems, applications, security, and server configurations. Troubleshoots server performance issues and create and maintain a disaster recovery plan. Under general supervision, manages a large and complex server environment, similar servers or group of servers, utilizing one or more networking technologies and/or server operating systems. Performs a variety of maintenance, evaluation, installation, and training tasks to enable users to maximize productivity. Administers a complex network or group of networks typically consisting of around 1500 or more nodes. Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment. Evaluates and recommends purchases of infrastructure solutions including servers, networking hardware, telecom, and other as needed by project. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems. Provides technical services regarding use of server and network to satisfy business and user needs. Under general supervision, installs, configures, and maintains server and network infrastructure. Windows servers, virtual servers, various network solutions, file servers, disaster recovery contingency planning, other related equipment, devices, and systems. Maintains best practices in patching and cyber security on all server and networking systems. Maintains site licenses, certificates, and other necessary auditable areas for the firm. Manages file permissions, file system integrity, and security. Coordinates scheduling of maintenance with proper emergency and change control procedures. Troubleshoots servers, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational issues until functional. Participates in testing of new hardware and software. Conducts training and mentorship of lower level employees and/or end-users, as needed. Ensures all systems for which they are responsible operate at peak efficiency and have the highest level of security intrusion prevention, minimizing downtime and outages in a proactive manner. Participates in the firm's data disaster recovery program, which may require travel with minimal notice and after-hours support by being on call 24 hours a day periodically. Conducts themselves in a professional manner with all staff, attorneys, clients, and vendors at all times. Follows best practices while traveling. Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred; and 4+ years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
