Associate Attorney – Civil Litigation & Creditors' Rights
Job Overview:
A law firm located in Cleveland, OH, is actively seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney with experience or interest in civil litigation and creditors’ rights. This role involves direct client engagement, courtroom appearances, and hands-on case management. The position provides an opportunity to work under the guidance of senior legal professionals while managing a substantive caseload in a collaborative and growth-focused legal environment.
Duties:
Manage a full docket of cases with mentorship and oversight from senior attorneys
Prepare and review complaints, summonses, contracts, deeds, and real estate-related documentation
Draft legal memoranda, motions, responses, and occasional appellate briefs
Represent clients in state, federal, municipal, and administrative proceedings
Provide legal strategy advice regarding regulatory developments and compliance matters
Interpret and apply laws, rulings, and legal codes relevant to practice areas
Conduct discovery and deposition preparation by court rules
Perform client and witness interviews to prepare for legal actions
Ensure compliance with FDCPA and consumer protection laws
Assist in developing case strategies, drafting arguments, and prepping testimonies
Maintain accurate tracking of deadlines and case progress
Guide junior staff on legal processes and review assigned work
Engage in ongoing legal training and education programs
Requirements:
1-3 years of legal experience in litigation or creditors’ rights
Active license to practice law in the State of Ohio
Knowledge of FDCPA and relevant consumer protection statutes
Strong legal writing, organizational, and analytical skills
Capable of working independently and managing multiple deadlines
Committed to professional conduct and ethical standards in legal practice
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Must possess an active Ohio State Bar license in good standing
Skills:
Legal research and drafting proficiency
Knowledge of civil procedure and court operations
Comfortable with case strategy development and client advisement
Detail-oriented with strong time and case management abilities
Effective communication, both verbal and written
