Duties

  • Conduct thorough client interviews to gather case details and develop effective defense strategies.
  • Research relevant laws, statutes, and legal precedents using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
  • Draft legal documents including motions, pleadings, and contracts related to criminal cases.
  • Prepare for trial by organizing evidence, coordinating expert witnesses, and developing courtroom tactics.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including arraignments, hearings, negotiations, and trials.
  • Negotiate plea agreements with prosecutors to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Manage case files efficiently using legal case management systems and maintain accurate documentation of all case activities.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar.
  • Proven experience in criminal defense law with knowledge of procedural law and courtroom procedures.
  • Strong research skills utilizing LexisNexis and Westlaw for statutory and case law analysis.
  • Excellent negotiation, oral advocacy, and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with a broad range of legal areas including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, personal injury law, employment law, and general & commercial litigation is preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in court depositions, trial preparation, legal motion drafting, and client communication is highly desirable.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the state bar.
