Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications for chemical-related inventions, including organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials science.
• Communicate with clients in Korean, offering guidance and support regarding patent matters.
• Collaborate with colleagues and clients to ensure successful outcomes in global patent prosecution.
• Participate in portfolio management, including strategy formulation and counseling.
• Conduct prior art searches and provide opinions on patentability and patent infringement.
• Engage in due diligence activities related to intellectual property transactions and licensing.
• Support post-grant proceedings, including oppositions and reexaminations.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience as a patent agent with a focus on chemistry, including global patent prosecution.
• U.S. Patent and Trademark Office registration as a patent agent.
• Fluency in Korean, both spoken and written, to communicate with Korean-speaking clients.
• Experience with patent applications in the chemical sciences (organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science).
• Strong understanding of intellectual property law and patent prosecution procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, with the ability to handle complex legal and technical issues.

Education:

• A degree in chemistry (Ph.D. or Master’s level preferred, with a focus on organic chemistry).
• A bachelor’s degree in chemistry is required, with advanced degrees preferred.

Certifications:

• U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) registration as a patent agent or attorney is required.

Skills:

• Strong technical knowledge in chemistry and related fields.
• Proficiency in patent drafting and prosecution.
• Fluency in Korean, both verbal and written.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
