A reputable law firm located in Bangor, ME, is seeking a highly skilled transaction attorney to handle complex legal matters related to business and commercial transactions. This role will involve working within the Commercial Real Estate and Corporate departments, providing clients with specialized legal counsel and representation. The ideal candidate will be an attorney admitted to practice law in the state of Maine, with a strong focus on real estate, corporate law, and transactional matters.

Duties

• Provide legal assistance for commercial clients on matters such as real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, entity formations, contract drafting, and bank lending.
• Collaborate with other legal practice areas to ensure comprehensive service for clients.
• Ensure compliance with the ethical requirements outlined by the state's Rules of Professional Conduct and maintain confidentiality in all client matters.
• Monitor client accounts and manage receivables related to legal services.
• Participate in business development and client relationship activities as necessary.
• Review, analyze, and handle new assignments and ongoing legal matters until resolved.
• Draft, organize, and manage legal correspondence and documents.
• Conduct thorough legal research using all available resources.
• Provide clear, well-informed legal opinions to clients.
• Maintain regular communication with clients regarding the status of their cases.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Maine and current membership in the State Bar.
• Strong analytical and strategic skills for anticipating challenges and formulating solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Experience in real estate and corporate law is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, and staff professionally and courteously.
• Ability to handle responsibilities independently or under direct supervision as required.
• Willingness to travel locally or statewide for client meetings and legal matters.
• Flexibility to work beyond standard hours when necessary.

Education

• Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from a recognized and accredited law institution.

Certifications

• Active and valid license to practice law in the state of Maine.
• Completion of required Continuing Legal Education (CLE) as mandated by the state.
