Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney for its Business Litigation team in Hartford, CT. This role involves engaging in sophisticated commercial disputes, representing clients in state and federal courts, and participating in mediation and arbitration proceedings. The position offers a hybrid work environment and requires managing complex litigation matters from inception through resolution.

Duties

• Represent clients in courtroom proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Take and defend depositions of parties and fact witnesses.
• Research factual and legal issues and collaborate on litigation strategy.
• Draft pleadings, memoranda, discovery demands, motions, and briefs.
• Examine records and transactions underlying business disputes.
• Work across various commercial litigation practice areas, including product liability defense.

Requirements

• Admission to the Connecticut bar (required).
• Admission to the New York and/or Massachusetts bar (preferred).
• Experience with Connecticut State Court and Federal Court practice.
• Federal or state judicial clerkship experience (preferred).
• Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to rapidly absorb and analyze new information.
• A high level of professionalism, conscientiousness, and responsibility.
• A positive, flexible, and cooperative attitude.
• Military experience welcome.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the Connecticut bar.
