A law firm seeks a Senior Associate Attorney specializing in family law to join their team in Buffalo, NY. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in handling complex family and matrimonial cases, including divorce, custody, and support matters. This role demands a compassionate yet assertive advocate with exceptional communication skills to manage emotionally charged situations professionally.

Duties

• Represent clients in family law matters, including agreements, divorce, custody, and support proceedings.
• Conduct investigations, discovery, negotiations, motion advocacy, and trials.
• Develop and execute legal strategies for optimal client outcomes.
• Serve as the primary client contact, providing clear communication and legal advice.
• Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and settlements.
• Oversee and mentor associates and paralegals, fostering professional growth.
• Utilize firm resources for efficient case management.
• Stay current on family law developments and CLE requirements.
• Maintain accurate time entries and case documentation.

Requirements

• Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
• Minimum of 5 years of family law experience, including at least 10 trials.
• Certified Divorce Specialist or willingness to obtain certification.
• Completion or willingness to complete mediation or Collaborative Divorce training.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and courtroom skills.
• Strong communication and client relationship abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Westlaw/LexisNexis, and Google Workspace; familiarity with CLIO Grow, CLIO Manage, and Family Law Software preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Certified Divorce Specialist or willingness to obtain certification.
