Appellate Attorney

Profile

A law firm in Topeka, KS is seeking an experienced and self-sufficient Appellate Attorney to work remotely. The successful candidate will focus on drafting and writing arguments to appeal administrative decisions. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and a background in Social Security Disability law or appellate work. An active attorney license in Missouri, Kansas, or Oklahoma is preferred. Experience in Social Security Disability law and writing appeals is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and prepare detailed and persuasive appellate arguments to challenge administrative decisions.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research to support appellate briefs and documents.
• Review and analyze administrative records, case files, and legal issues pertinent to appeals.
• Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders regarding case status and developments.
• Ensure all appellate documents meet legal standards and are submitted within deadlines.
• Manage caseload independently with minimal direct oversight, demonstrating strong self-management skills.

Requirements

• Active attorney license through a state bar association, preferably in Missouri, Kansas, or Oklahoma.
• Experience with Social Security Disability law is preferred.
• Experience in writing and handling appeals is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work remotely and manage tasks independently with minimal supervision.

Education

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar admission in the state of practice, preferably MO, KS, or OK.
