Profile

A law firm in Des Moines is seeking a Patent Attorney with 1+ years of experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications. The candidate will assist the team in patent preparation/prosecution, drafting patent opinions, IP diligence, and strategic IP business counseling. Individual or groups of attorneys seeking new opportunities are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate should have experience in all stages of patent preparation/prosecution, including drafting original applications, foreign filings, responding to official actions, and appeals. Additionally, desired candidates will have the desire and skills to grow the IP practice by networking with and marketing to prospective new clients.

Duties:

• Assist in patent preparation/prosecution.
• Draft patent opinions, IP diligence, and strategic IP business counseling.
• Handle all stages of patent preparation/prosecution, including drafting original applications, foreign filings, responding to official actions, and appeals.
• Network with and market to prospective new clients.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in Iowa.
• 1+ years of experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications.

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

Admission to practice law in Iowa.

Skills:

• Experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
• Strong understanding of intellectual property laws and regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Networking and marketing skills to grow the IP practice.
