A law firm is seeking a Junior-Mid Level Benefits Associate Attorney for their office in Madison, WI. The ideal candidate should have 2-4 years of benefits experience in private practice, including expertise in qualified retirement plans, health & welfare plans, and executive & deferred compensation arrangements. Supporting benefits and compensation in M&A, ERISA litigation, and withdrawal liability experience is a plus. Duties:

  • Provide legal support and counsel on a range of benefits and compensation matters.
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various benefit plan documents, agreements, and disclosures.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex benefits and compensation issues.
  • Assist in benefits-related aspects of mergers and acquisitions, ERISA litigation, and withdrawal liability matters.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to provide comprehensive legal advice and solutions.

Requirements:

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • 2-4 years of benefits experience in private practice.
  • Experience with qualified retirement plans, health & welfare plans, and executive & deferred compensation arrangements.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to evolving legal standards and firm needs.
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Effective teamwork and relationship-building skills at all levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and sensitive situations with discretion.
  • Confidence in issue identification, decision-making, and problem-solving.

Education and Certifications:

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
