Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a dedicated Associate Attorney to join its immigration law practice in Columbus, OH. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immigration law and a passion for advocating on behalf of clients. This role offers the opportunity to engage in meaningful legal work, including client representation and litigation, with occasional travel required.

Duties:

  • Prepare and file immigration-related forms, legal briefs, motions, affidavits, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct consultations to assess client cases and provide tailored legal advice.
  • Represent clients at immigration court, including appearances in Cleveland Immigration Court (1–2 trips per month).
  • Engage in written and oral advocacy on behalf of clients before USCIS and other relevant agencies.
  • Conduct research and draft legal memorandums.
  • Stay updated on developments in immigration law and regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective case management and timely filings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of experience practicing immigration law.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 1–2 times per month.
  • Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the state of Ohio.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting.
  • Strong interpersonal and client-service skills.
  • Organizational abilities to handle a high-volume caseload.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse client populations.
