Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly experienced T Visa and Humanitarian Immigration Attorney to join its Trafficking Victim Services & Admissibility Unit. This remote position requires expertise in T nonimmigrant status petitions, focusing on labor trafficking, domestic servitude, and sex trafficking. The attorney will collaborate with senior leadership to enhance the firm's T visa practice infrastructure.

Duties

  • Conduct trauma-informed intake interviews to assess T visa eligibility.
  • Deliver informed consent counseling on T visa petitions and related processes.
  • Screen for admissibility bars and assess waiver availability.
  • Draft and oversee preparation of T visa petitions and supporting documents.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement and victim advocates for certifications.
  • Advise on T visa derivative petitions and adjustment of status.
  • Maintain professional communication with trafficking survivors.
  • Develop and maintain screening protocols and case management procedures.
  • Train staff on trafficking identification and ethics compliance.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar admission in good standing.
  • Minimum five years of experience in humanitarian immigration law.
  • Experience with T visa cases across various trafficking categories.
  • Familiarity with federal anti-trafficking law and policy.
  • Experience advising clients on complex inadmissibility issues.
  • Proficiency in trauma-informed client interviews.
  • Fluency or professional proficiency in Spanish preferred.
  • Experience with high-volume immigration practice.

Education

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar admission in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload effectively.
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity in client interactions.
