Job Overview:
A prominent plaintiff-side personal injury law firm is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join its litigation and pre-litigation team in St. Louis, Missouri. This is a full-time, in-office role ideal for attorneys in the early stages of their careers who are looking to gain hands-on experience in both trial preparation and client advocacy. The role involves working closely with experienced litigators and support staff on a variety of personal injury cases, including investigation, negotiations, discovery, and courtroom work.

Location:

• St. Louis, Missouri

Duties:

Pre-Litigation:

• Conduct legal research and evaluate case viability

• Collaborate with investigators and case managers to gather evidence such as medical records and police reports

• Participate in client consultations and provide consistent case updates

• Draft demand letters and negotiate pre-litigation settlements

• Work with medical experts and attorneys to assess causation and damages

Litigation:

• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts

• Draft and respond to discovery, pleadings, and motions

• Argue motions and engage in motion practice

• Assist with trial preparation and participate in jury trials, including voir dire, opening and closing statements, and witness examination

• Maintain regular communication with clients, insurance adjusters, and opposing counsel

• Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences

Requirements:

• 1–3 years of experience in personal injury law, including litigation and pre-litigation exposure

• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload effectively

• Commitment to client service and strong team collaboration

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in Missouri and Illinois (required)

• Kansas licensure is a plus

Skills:

• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills

• Courtroom experience with motion practice is preferred

• Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation abilities

• Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-based environment
